This nearly 2,000-acre campus enrolls about 28,000 students and offers a multitude of majors. Undergraduates center their academics around the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The college is made up of 10 schools, including colleges of Medicine, Law, Nursing, Engineering and Pharmacy.

Staying true to their Midwestern roots, Iowa is home to many colleges and universities that were founded by various churches. Such schools include those founded by the Catholic Church like Loras College in Dubuque or Briar Cliff in Sioux City, lauded by U.S. News & World Report as an outstanding regional university. The state has the third highest graduation rate in the nation. The graduation rate for high school seniors has gradually increased to 90.8% in 2006.
