New Mexico Colleges and Schools

New Mexico offers many quality public schools, community and career colleges and several private schools. Many colleges are tribal-run for residents who live in or near Native American reservations.

Remaining true to the traditional beauty of New Mexico, The University of New Mexico is constructed in Pueblo-style architecture. Located in downtown Albuquerque, the university serves 26,000 students from diverse backgrounds. Combined, the main and branch campuses offer a total of 93 Bachelor’s degrees, 68 Master’s degrees and 37 Doctoral programs. Several professional programs are also offered. The University has branch campuses in Gallup, Los Alamos, Taos and Valencia County.

Like the University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University is also a designated Hispanic-serving university, and nearly half its students are minorities. The state school is home to 16,000 or so students. They have access to 77 Bachelor's degrees, 51 Master's degrees, and 22 Doctorates. The additional campuses in the state university system all offer 2-year programs.

Or, if you want to pursue education in a school that promotes creative thought consider attending the private College of Santa Fe. Mostly creative fields of study are taught, but the school also offers liberal arts programs.
